Am I underpaid? Check your salary against the market
Tell me your role, city, company type and years of experience. I’ll show you the pay band for people like you, and where your CTC sits in it. If I don’t have data for your role in your city, I’ll say so instead of guessing.
Estimates for planning, not tax or legal advice. Rules change with each Budget and differ by employer, so check your offer letter, payslip or a professional before you act.
How it’s calculated
Where the band comes from
The same salary data I use when I talk you through an offer: researched pay ranges for each role, company type and experience bracket, set for Bangalore and adjusted for Hyderabad, NCR, Mumbai, Pune and Chennai. Every figure is total annual CTC in lakhs (LPA). These are estimates built from published sources, not a survey of real salaries, and the result says so; they sharpen as real data comes in.
What the band means
- The band runs from the 25th to the 75th percentile: the middle half of what people in your bracket earn.
- Below the 25th percentile is “below the band”, above the 75th is “above the band”, and anything between is “in the band”.
- The median is the middle of the curve fitted through those two ends.
When there’s no answer
If there is no data for your exact role, city, company type and experience, the result says “not covered”. I don’t borrow another city’s numbers or a national average and pass them off as yours.
Questions people ask
Is my salary stored?
No. Your inputs go to Zia’s server only to look up the band, and nothing you enter is saved or logged.
Why does it say “not covered”?
There’s no data for that exact combination yet: a city outside the six I cover, a company type a role isn’t tracked for, or more than 15 years of experience. A guess would look like data, so I don’t show one.
Is CTC the right number to enter?
Yes. The band is total annual CTC, including variable pay and benefits, so enter your full CTC in lakhs, not your in-hand pay.
I’m below the band. What now?
It’s a starting point, not a verdict. Skills, company size and your last hike all move the number. Bring it to me and I’ll help you work out what to ask for.
Numbers done. Now the decision.
Tell me what the numbers mean for you, and I’ll help you decide what to do next.
