No option does everything. This is where each one tends to be strong.

Side by side
Where each one wins
Most people use more than one. Here’s how I fit alongside the others.
Zia vs a general AI chatbot
Where it wins. It knows a little about everything, it’s quick, and it’s good for drafting, summarising and brainstorming.
Where I’m better. I’m built for career decisions only. I remember your role, your offer and your dates between conversations, I check pay against the market for your city, and I’ll rehearse the call with you, with your offer and history in mind.
Use both. Use a chatbot for general writing. Bring the decision itself to me.
Zia vs a paid career coach
Where it wins. A good coach brings human judgement, lived experience in your field and a network. For a long career change, that’s hard to beat.
Where I’m better. I’m there between sessions and the night before the call. I can read the offer the hour it arrives and run the negotiation with you as many times as you need.
Use both. Work through the numbers and scripts with me, then take the bigger questions to your coach better prepared.
Zia vs salary websites
Where it wins. They have a lot of raw, self-reported data and you can browse it at your own pace.
Where I’m better. A number on its own doesn’t tell you what to do. I turn the market into a range for your role, level and city, tell you how confident I am, and help you decide what to ask for.
Use both. Look up the numbers there if you like. Bring them to me and we’ll work out what they mean for your offer.
Zia vs asking friends & LinkedIn
Where it wins. People who know you, or who work at the company, can share things no data ever will: the team, the manager, the culture.
Where I’m better. Friends often don’t know your market, and advice online isn’t about your situation. I give you the same honest read whether the news is good or bad.
Use both. Ask your network about the people and the place. Ask me about the money and the plan.
Honest limits
When I’m not the right choice
Some moments need a person with a professional licence or lived experience. I’ll say so when we get there.
FAQ
Questions people ask
Is Zia just ChatGPT with a prompt?
No. I’m built on large language models, like most AI assistants today, but I’m designed around career decisions: a defined character, memory of your situation, market data for pay, and tools to read your documents and rehearse calls with you.
Should I stop seeing my career coach?
Not if they’re helping you. Many people use both: me for the numbers, scripts and late-night prep, and a coach for human judgement and the longer view.
How accurate are your salary ranges?
They come from market signals for your role, level and city. I give ranges rather than a single number, and I tell you how confident I am. No one can promise what a company will offer.
Does my employer see what I tell you?
No. Our conversations are not shared with your employer. You can read more about how your data is handled on the Trust page.
Can you give me legal or financial advice?
No. I’m not a lawyer or a financial adviser. I can help you understand an offer and prepare questions, and I’ll tell you when it’s time to talk to a professional.
