Founding Engineer
Fluxera is building the reliability and optimization layer for AI-native software.
Modern AI systems are becoming increasingly complex — connecting APIs, agents, tools, memory, workflows, infrastructure, and third-party dependencies. When something breaks, teams often have to manually investigate what failed, why it failed, and what business impact it created.
Fluxera is building the infrastructure that makes these systems observable, diagnosable, recoverable, and eventually self-optimizing.
We're looking for a Founding Engineer to work directly with the founders and help build the core technical foundation of the company.
What you'll own
- Architect and build core Fluxera infrastructure from the ground up.
- Build systems for monitoring and analyzing APIs, tools, agents, workflows, and dependencies.
- Develop reliability intelligence, failure detection, root-cause analysis, and recovery capabilities.
- Work across backend infrastructure, data pipelines, APIs, distributed systems, and AI/LLM integrations.
- Turn ambiguous product ideas into working systems quickly.
- Make critical technical decisions around architecture, scalability, reliability, and developer experience.
- Build directly from real customer use cases and continuously iterate the product.
- Establish engineering standards and technical foundations that can scale as the company grows.
- Work closely with the founders on product, architecture, experimentation, and technical strategy.
What we're looking for
- Strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Experience building and shipping production software.
- Strong backend engineering experience.
- Comfortable working with APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with AI/LLM systems, agents, or developer infrastructure is highly valuable.
- Ability to operate independently with limited specifications.
- Strong debugging and systems-thinking ability.
- Comfortable moving extremely fast and making decisions with incomplete information.
- Product-minded: you care about whether what you build actually solves the user's problem, not just whether the code works.
The kind of person we're looking for
This is not a normal engineering role.
You'll have significant ownership from day one. You'll be expected to question architecture, challenge product assumptions, prototype aggressively, and take responsibility for systems end-to-end.
You should be comfortable going from
"We think this could work" → prototype → production system → customer feedback → iteration.
If you want a highly structured environment with narrowly defined tickets and responsibilities, this probably isn't the right role.
If you want to help define the architecture and engineering culture of an early AI infrastructure company, you'll have enormous scope here.
Why join Fluxera?
- Founding-level ownership and influence.
- Work directly with the founders.
- Build core infrastructure rather than incremental features.
- Opportunity to shape the technical architecture from the beginning.
- Meaningful equity alongside competitive compensation.
- Remote-first and highly autonomous environment.
- Exposure to AI infrastructure, agents, reliability engineering, and distributed systems.
Hiring process
We care more about what you can build and how you think than credentials.
The process may include
- Technical conversation
- Systems/design discussion
- Practical engineering assessment
- Founder conversation
